Juan del Val's romantic dedication to Nuria Roca after winning the Planeta Prize: "You are my life."

The writer and communicator Juan del Val has won the Planeta Prize for his novel Vera, a love story , and has delivered a romantic dedication to his wife, Nuria Roca .

"This award is for one person, Nuria. Because without you, this would be impossible, because without you, nothing makes sense . Every time I look at you, and I've been looking at you for almost 30 years, I discover how lucky I am. You are my life. I love you."

Del Val entered the award under the pseudonym Elvira Torres and the title 'No es tan fácil morir de amor' (It's Not So Easy to Die of Love). The novel is about a middle-aged woman belonging to Seville's high society who breaks up her empty marriage to a marquis, and a relationship with a younger man leads her to a process of personal liberation.

The writer said, upon receiving the award, that Vera, a Love Story is a novel about love "in all directions," and explained that it is also a path toward freedom, in which one must lose the fear of making mistakes .

The Planet 2025 winner has said he prefers to be read by as many people as possible, and has said that separating quality and sales is "disrespectful to people."

Juan del Val wanted to emphasize that aside from appearing on television, he dedicates himself to writing: "I am what I write, and I owe everything I am to writing."
